Internal Audit & Controls

Internal Controls Design

FinAura designs internal controls that fit a company of ten or five hundred people, not a bank: who approves what up to which amount, which duties are kept apart, which reconciliations and reviews happen and when, and how your software enforces them. Controls are written down, built into your systems and explained to the people who run them.

A common question

What are internal controls?

The checks built into how work is done: approvals before money is spent, reconciliations that catch errors, reviews that spot unusual items, and duties split so one person cannot both make and hide a mistake.

Good controls are proportionate. Too few and leakage goes unnoticed; too many and people work around them.

Questions we get asked

Internal Controls Design: Questions, Answered

Do small companies need internal controls?

Yes, in proportion. A few well-chosen approvals, reconciliations and reviews prevent most errors and fraud in a small business.

What is segregation of duties?

Splitting a process so that no single person can initiate, approve, record and pay for a transaction on their own.

Will controls slow the business down?

Designed well, no. Limits are set so routine items flow and only significant ones need extra approval.

Can controls be set up in Zoho Books or Tally?

Yes. Both support user roles, approvals and locks; we configure them to match the design.
