Risk Assessment and Control Matrix

FinAura works with your management to list the risks that matter to your business, financial, operational and compliance, ranks them by likelihood and impact, defines the control for each, and records it all in a risk and control matrix. Gaps are prioritised, owners named, and the matrix becomes the plan for internal audit.

A common question

What is a risk control matrix?

A table linking each significant risk to the control that addresses it, the control's owner, how often it operates and how it is evidenced.

It turns a general worry about 'controls' into a specific list of what is covered and what is not.

Questions we get asked

Risk Assessment and Control Matrix: Questions, Answered

What is the difference between a risk register and a control matrix?

A risk register lists and ranks risks. A control matrix adds, for each risk, the control that addresses it and how it operates.

How often should the risk assessment be updated?

At least once a year, and when the business changes significantly.

Does the board need to be involved?

Boards should review the key risks and how they are managed; we prepare the material for that discussion.

Is this only about financial risks?

No. Operational and compliance risks are included where they affect the business materially.
