Financial Modelling

FinAura builds financial models for decisions that need numbers before they are made: a new plant or location, a product line, an acquisition, a loan or a funding round. Models are driver-based, three-statement and checked, with assumptions written down and scenarios you can switch, and we hand them over so your team can use them.

A common question

What makes a financial model trustworthy?

Clear separation of inputs, calculations and outputs; every assumption in one place with its source; checks that the balance sheet balances and cash ties; and no hard-coded numbers buried in formulas.

A model built that way can be audited by a lender or investor, and updated by your team without breaking it.

The rules, in plain English

What the Law Asks of Your Books

Companies Act, 2013

Section 128

Every company keeps books of account that give a true and fair view of its affairs, at its registered office or another place the Board decides, and preserves them for at least the eight financial years before the current one.

Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014

Rule 3

Books kept electronically must stay accessible in India at all times, with a daily back-up on servers physically in India. For financial years starting on or after 1 April 2023, the accounting software must keep an audit trail of every change that cannot be switched off.

CGST Act, 2017

Sections 35 and 36

Every GST-registered business keeps its accounts and records at its principal place of business and retains them for 72 months from the due date of the annual return for that year, or longer while an appeal or proceeding is open.

Income-tax law

Books and tax audit

Businesses and professions above the prescribed limits must keep books of account, and a tax audit follows above further limits. The limits change from time to time, so we confirm which apply to you before the year starts.

This is general information, not advice for your situation; we confirm what applies to you before any work starts.

Questions we get asked

Financial Modelling: Questions, Answered

What is a three-statement financial model?

A model in which the profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow are linked, so each assumption flows through all three and the balance sheet balances in every period.

How long does a model take?

It depends on the scope; a focused project model is quicker than a full company model. We agree the scope and timing first.

Do you provide valuations?

We build the models a valuation relies on. Where a formal valuation report is required by law, it is issued by the professional the law specifies.

Can you review a model someone else built?

Yes. We check logic, links and assumptions and report what needs fixing.
