A common question

Should I worry about an income tax notice?

Not always. Many notices are automated: a mismatch with AIS, a missing document, a defective return. A clear reply with evidence usually closes them.

What matters is the deadline. An unanswered notice can lead to an order based only on the department's figures, which is much harder to undo.
