A common question
It can stop filing, but late fees keep building, directors can be disqualified, and the Registrar may strike the company off on its own, which leaves directors exposed.
A voluntary strike-off after clearing liabilities ends the obligations cleanly. If the company still has assets or liabilities, winding up may be needed instead.
See the compliance health checkWho it is for

Old entity no longer needed.
Building up late fees.
Closing unused subsidiaries.

Questions we get asked

Generally yes, up to the period the rules require, before the application is accepted.
An LLP that has stopped business and has no liabilities can apply to the Registrar to be struck off, after its filings are current.
Assets must be dealt with first; if liabilities cannot be cleared, winding up rather than strike-off may apply.
