XBRL Filing

Some companies must file their financial statements with the Registrar in XBRL, a tagged electronic format. FinAura checks whether the requirement applies to you each year, tags your balance sheet, profit and loss, notes and other statements to the MCA taxonomy, validates the file and files it, with certification through associate practising professionals.

A common question

Which companies must file in XBRL?

Listed companies and their Indian subsidiaries, companies above the paid-up capital or turnover limits in the rules, and companies following Ind AS, among others, file in XBRL. Others file the regular AOC-4.

Banks, insurance and certain other sectors are exempt. Because the tests depend on each year's numbers, we check applicability every year.

Questions we get asked

XBRL Filing: Questions, Answered

What is XBRL filing?

Filing financial statements with the Registrar in eXtensible Business Reporting Language, where each figure is tagged so it can be read by software.

Is XBRL required for all companies?

No. It applies to the classes of companies in the rules, such as listed companies and those above set limits. Others file the regular form.

Is the XBRL file the same as the audited accounts?

It must match them exactly; tagging changes the format, not the numbers.

Who certifies the XBRL filing?

An associate practising professional certifies the form, as required.
