Management Reporting & Budgeting

KPI Tracking

FinAura helps you choose the handful of numbers that really drive your business, defines each one precisely, and tracks them every month from your books and operating data. Each KPI comes with its trend, its target and a line on why it moved, so the conversation is about the business rather than about how a number was calculated.

A common question

Why do KPI reports stop being used?

Usually because there are too many measures, nobody agrees how they are calculated, and the numbers change depending on who pulled them.

A short list with written definitions, pulled the same way every month, gives management numbers they trust and argue about less.

What the Law Asks of Your Books

Companies Act, 2013

Companies (Accounts) Rules, 2014

Rule 3

Books kept electronically must stay accessible in India at all times, with a daily back-up on servers physically in India. For financial years starting on or after 1 April 2023, the accounting software must keep an audit trail of every change that cannot be switched off.

CGST Act, 2017

Income-tax law

Books and tax audit

Businesses and professions above the prescribed limits must keep books of account, and a tax audit follows above further limits. The limits change from time to time, so we confirm which apply to you before the year starts.

Questions we get asked

KPI Tracking: Questions, Answered

How many KPIs should a small business track?

Usually three to seven. More than that and attention scatters; the rest can sit in the detailed reports.

Can KPIs come from systems other than accounting?

Yes. We combine accounting data with CRM, sales or production data where it is available.

Do you build the dashboard as well?

Yes, in Power BI, Zoho Analytics or Google Sheets, or as part of the monthly MIS.

What if our data is incomplete?

We start with what is reliable, flag the gaps and fix the data collection for the measures that matter.
